A voice cries out

http://youtu.be/09nPw-Uvwr4

Console my people, the ones dear to me
Speak to the heart of Jerusalem
The time of your mourning is ended now
the Lord of life will come

Refrain:
A voice cries out in the wilderness prepare a way for the Lord
A voice cries out in the wilderness make straight a highway for God
Every valley is made a plain every mountain is leveled
The glory of God shall be revealed and nations will sing your praise (Refrain)

A voice shouts 'cry', O what shall I cry ? All flesh is like grass and its flowers
The grass may wither the flowers may fade but the word of the lord is forever (Refrain)

Zion shout from the mountain top lift up your voice O Jerusalem
And say to the people of Gods own land behold behold your God (Refrain)

The lord will appear as a shepherd holding his lamb in his arms
Keeping his flock so close to his heart leading them all old and young (Refrain)

O Come Divine Messiah

1. O come, divine Messiah!
The world in silence waits the day
When hope shall sing its triumph,
And sadness flee away.

Ref:
Dear Savior haste;
Come, come to earth,
Dispel the night and show your face,
And bid us hail the dawn of grace.
O come, divine Messiah!
The world in silence waits the day
When hope shall sing its triumph,
And sadness flee away.

2. O Christ, whom nations sigh for,
Whom priest and prophet long foretold,
Come break the captive's fetters;
Redeem the long-lost fold. (ref)

3. You come in peace and meekness,
And lowly will your cradle be;
All clothed in human weakness
Shall we your Godhead see. (ref)

Come Thou Long Expected Jesus

Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus is perhaps one of my favourite Advent songs. Written by Charles Wesley in 1744, it focuses on the “long-expected Jesus” who was born to set us free from sin, and to bring us salvation by His death. Here are the lyrics:

Come, Thou long-expected Jesus, born to set Thy people free;

from our fears and sins release us; let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel’s strength and consolation, hope of all the earth Thou art;

dear desire of every nation, joy of every longing heart.

Joy to those who long to see thee, Dayspring from on high, appear;
come, thou promised Rod of Jesse, of thy birth we long to hear!
O’er the hills the angels singing news, glad tidings of a birth;
“Go to him, your praises bringing; Christ the Lord has come to earth.”

Come to earth to taste our sadness, he whose glories knew no end;
by his life he brings us gladness, our Redeemer, Shepherd, Friend.
Leaving riches without number, born within a cattle stall;
this the everlasting wonder, Christ was born the Lord of all.

Born Thy people to deliver, born a child, and yet a King,
born to reign in us forever, now Thy gracious kingdom bring.
By Thine own eternal Spirit rule in all our hearts alone;

by Thine all sufficient merit, raise us to Thy glorious throne.

Beyond the Moon and Stars

Refrain:
Beyond the moon and stars, as deep as night,
So great our hunger, Lord, to see your light.
The sparrow finds her home beneath your wing,
So may we come to rest where angels sing.

1. Our eyes have longed to see your loving face,
To live within your courts for all our days.

2. Your roads have led us, Lord, 'cross desert sand.
We place our hopes and dreams within your hand.

3. Upon our darkness, Lord, a light has shone.
You chose to dwell with us in flesh and bone.

4. With shining stars at night, and cloud by day,
you brought us here to see your love's display.

5. When life’s great journey ends, and day is done,
Then may our eyes behold your Holy One.

Holy is Your Name

Another Magnificat song from David Haas and this is sung so beautifully here, have a listen

1. My soul is filled with joy
as I sing to God my savior:
you have looked upon your servant,
you have visited your people.

Refrain
And holy is your name through all generations!
Everlasting is your mercy to the people you have chosen,
and holy is your name.

2. I am lowly as a child,
but I know from this day forward
that my name will be remembered,
for all will call me blessed.

3. I proclaim the pow’r of God,
you do marvels for your servants;
though you scatter the proud hearted
and destroy the might of princes.

4. To the hungry you give food,
send the rich away empty.
In your mercy you are mindful
of the people you have chosen.

5. In your love you now fulfill
what you promised to your people.
I will praise you, Lord, my savior,
everlasting is your mercy.

Bread for the World

Listen to the song here
Refrain
Bread for the world:
a world of hunger.
Wine for all peoples:
people who thirst.
May we who eat
be bread for others.
May we who drink
pour out our love.
1. Lord Jesus Christ,
you are the bread of life,
broken to reach
and heal the wounds
of human pain.
Where we divide your people,
you are waiting there
on bended knee
to wash our feet with endless care.
Refrain
2. Lord Jesus Christ,
you are the wine of peace,
poured into hearts once broken
and where dryness sleeps.
Where we are tired and weary,
you are waiting there
to be the way which beckons us
beyond despair.
Refrain
3. Lord Jesus Christ,
you call us to your feast,
at which the rich and pow’rful
have become the least.
Where we survive on others
in our human greed,
you walk among us
begging for your ev’ry need.

Refrain

The Voice of God

The hymn reflects the themes of Isaiah 42 & 51 and focuses our praise with the acclamation “With power, with justice, Christ will be the way!”.

1.
The voice of God goes out to all the world;
God's glory speaks across the universe.
The great King’s herald cries from star to star:
“With power, with justice, Christ will be the way!”
2.
The Lord has said, “Receive my messenger,
my promise to the world, my pledge made flesh,
a lamp to every nation, light from light:
“With power, with justice, Christ will be the way!”
3.
“The broken reed he will not trample down,
nor set his heel upon the dying flame.
he binds the wounds, and health is in his hand:
“With power, with justice, Christ will be the way!”
4.
“Anointed with the Spirit and with power,
he comes to crown with comfort all the weak,
to show the face of justice to the poor:
“With power, with justice, Christ will be the way!”
5.
“His touch will bless the eyes that darkness held,
the lame shall run, the halting tongue shall sing,
and prisoners laugh in light and liberty:
“With power, with justice, Christ will be the way!”

Dwelling Place

Check out the song here

The Lord who has shown us the glory of God.

2. May he in his love give us strength for our living
The strength of his spirit the glory of God.

Refrain
May Christ find a dwelling place of faith in our hearts.
May our lives be rooted in love, rooted in love.
3. May grace and peace be yours in God our father
and in his son (Refrain)

The Lord who has shown us the glory of God (Refrain)

Lord Make Us Ready

Lord Make Us Ready

Chorus:
Lord, make us ready now to share this meal
Sign of our life in you
Lord, make us ready now to share this meal
Sign of our life in you

1. We bring you this food
Which bears the stain of human toil
This bread, hard won food of slavery
This bread which brings to mind each meal
Which men have shared in happiness
Lord, give it pow'r to make us free

2. We bring you this wine
The fruit of distant smoky hills
This wine, cool and red like ev'ning light
The cause of suffering
Yet the drink
That makes man's heart alive and warm
Lord, give it pow'r to make us free

Our God Reigns

Words & Music: Leonard E. Smith, 1974; arranged by Thomas E. Fettke & Stephen Beddia

Listen here
How lovely on the mountains are the feet of Him
Who brings good news, good news;
Announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness:
Our God reigns, our God reigns!
Refrain
Our God reigns!
Our God reigns!
Our God reigns!
Our God reigns!
He had no stately form, He had no majesty
That we should be drawn to Him.
He was despised and we took no account of Him.
Our God reigns, our God reigns!
Refrain
It was our sin and guilt that bruised and wounded Him.
It was our sin that brought Him down.
When we like sheep had gone astray our Shepherd came
And on His shoulders bore our shame.
Refrain
Meek as a lamb that’s led out to the slaughterhouse,
Dumb as a sheep before its shearer,
His life ran down upon the ground like pouring rain
That we might be born again.
Refrain
Out from the tomb He came with grace and majesty;
He is alive, He is alive.
God loves us so, see here His hands, His feet, His side
Yes we know, He is alive.
Refrain

O Perfect Love

Listen to this beautiful song here

O perfect Love, all human thought transcending,
Lowly we kneel in prayer before Thy throne,
That theirs may be the love which knows no ending,
Whom Thou forevermore dost join in one.

O perfect Life, be Thou their full assurance,
Of tender charity and steadfast faith,
Of patient hope and quiet, brave endurance,
With childlike trust that fears not pain nor death.

Grant them the joy which brightens earthly sorrow;
Grant them the peace which calms all earthly strife,
And to life’s day the glorious unknown morrow
That dawns upon eternal love and life.

Hear us, O Father, gracious and forgiving,
Through Jesus Christ, Thy coeternal Word,
Who, with the Holy Ghost, by all things living
Now and to endless ages art adored.

535 O God Beyond All Praising

Another majestic hymn of Praise! O God, Beyond All Praising composed by Gustav Holst (1874-1934). Listen here

O God beyond all praising, we worship you today
and sing the love amazing, that songs cannot repay;
for we can only wonder, at every gift you send,
at blessings without number, and mercies without end:
we lift our hearts before you, and wait upon your word,
we honour and adore you, our great and mighty Lord.

O God of all creation, who glory fills the sky,
We gather in your presence, our spirits lifted high;
To bring for humble service, those who answer to your call,
That they may follow Christ, the example for us all
Protect them and guide them, their faith in you be strong,
As now they journey onward, we sing the ancient song.

“You are a priest forever” within God’s church on earth,
“in the order of Melchizadeck”, a priest before your birth.
Called out to be our pastor, the flock of Christ to serve;
From the humble to the haughty, the Word of God make heard,
To celebrate the sacraments, in fitting praise proclaim,
In love of Holy Trinity, give honour to God’s name.

Then hear, O gracious Savior, accept the love we bring,
that we who know your favour, may serve you as our king;
and whether our tomorrows, be filled with good or ill,
we'll triumph through our sorrows, and rise to bless you still:
to marvel at your beauty, and glory in your ways,
and make a joyful duty, our sacrifice of praise.

Father I thank You

Listen to the song here

Father I thank You
For all that You've done
You gave Your Son freely for me
And I praise You for calling me
Drawing me near
Out of blindness
You caused me to see

Spirit of life
You are God's holy fire
You've kindled my heart with Your blaze
And I know You're refining me
Changing my life
And by faith You're revealing Your ways

Jesus I need You
As Lord of my life
I give all I have unto You
Lord I want to come
Under Your heavenly hand
And to praise You in all that I do

#546 Sacred Silence

Chanced upon this song while flipping through my blue book.... so beautiful...
http://youtu.be/LNZ62clakqQ

Sacred silence, holy ocean
Gentle water, washing over me
Help me listen, Holy Spirit
Come and speak to me

God my father, Christ my brother
Holy Spirit, sanctifying me
Lord I'm sorry, please forgive me
Come and set me free

Servant King

http://youtu.be/DwIukabdw3E

From heaven you came helpless babe
Entered our world, your glory veiled
Not to be served but to serve
And give Your life that we might live

This is our God, The Servant King
He calls us now to follow Him
To bring our lives as a daily offering
Of worship to The Servant King

There in the garden of tears
My heavy load he chose to bear
His heart with sorrow was torn
'Yet not My will but Yours,' He said

Come see His hands and His feet
The scars that speak of sacrifice
Hands that flung stars into space
To cruel nails surrendered

#437 Though the Mountains May Fall

http://youtu.be/CnGnGBlBc1k

Refrain
Though the mountains may fall
and the hills turn to dust,
yet the love of the Lord will stand
as a shelter for all who will call on his name.
Sing the praise and the glory of God.

1. Could the Lord ever leave you?
Could the Lord forget his love?
Though a mother forsake her child,
he will not abandon you.

2. Should you turn and forsake him,
he will gently call your name.
Should you wander away from him,
he will always take you back.

3. Go to him when you’re weary;
he will give you eagle’s wings.
You will run, never tire,
for your God will be your strength.

4. As he swore to your fathers,
when the flood destroyed the land,
he will never forsake you;
he will swear to you again.

in peace to serve the world.
Take the love of God,
the love of God with you as you go.

2. Take the peace of God with you as you go.
Take the seeds of God's peace and make them grow.

3. Take the joy of God with you as you go.
Take the seeds of God's joy and make them grow.

In Him Alone

Refrain:
In him alone is our hope
In him alone is our strength
In him alone are we justified
In him alone are we saved.

What have we to offer
That does not fade or wither
Can the world ever satisfy
The emptiness in our hearts
In vain we deny? (refrain)

When will you cease running
In search of hollow meaning?
Let his love feed the hunger
In your soul, til it overflows
With joy you yearn to know. (refrain)

#439 How can I keep from singing

https://www.licensingonline.org/en-us/12/cluster/2571

1 My life flows on in endless song,
above earth’s lamentation.
I hear the real, though far-off hymn
that hails a new creation.

Refrain:
No storm can shake my in-most calm
while to that rock I’m clinging.
Since Love is Lord of heaven and earth,
how can I keep from singing?

2 Through all the tumult and the strife,
I hear that music ringing.
It sounds and echoes in my soul.
How can I keep from singing? [Refrain]

3 What though the tempest round me roar
I hear the truth it liveth.
What though the darkness round me close
Songs in the night it giveth. [Refrain]

4 The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
a fountain ever springing!
All things are mine since I am his!
How can I keep from singing? [Refrain]

#207 Soul of my Saviour

This is a beautiful classic Catholic hymn, used by the Church for a couple of centuries. The Latin text of this prayer dates back to the 14th century. It is still sung today in many conservative or traditional Catholic circles, usually as a Communion or Offertory hymn.
http://youtu.be/oIEVyOqeC0U

Soul of my Savior sanctify my breast,
Body of Christ, be thou my saving guest,
Blood of my Savior, bathe me in thy tide,
wash me with water flowing from thy side.

Strength and protection may thy passion be,
O blessed Jesus, hear and answer me;
deep in thy wounds, Lord, hide and shelter me,
so shall I never, never part from thee.

Hear me Lord Jesus, listen as I pray
"Lead me from night to never ending day
Fill all the world with love and grace divine,
And glory, laud, and praise be ever thine."

#710 Mary's Song

http://youtu.be/dsqmrbntiTQ

Mary's Song by Millie Rieth

My soul doth glory in your love, O Lord.
My soul doth glory in your love, O Lord.
For you gazed on your servant with compassion,
And you reached out and took me by the hand.

Great are you, God, and holy is your name.
Your mercy reaches to the end of time.
Ah, the lowly you raise to the heavens,
And the proud-hearted have no part with you.

Ah, how you fill the hungry with your love.
With empty hands the rich are sent away.
You will always be mindful of your mercy,
As you promised your people long ago.

My soul doth glory in your love, O Lord.
My soul doth glory in your love, O Lord.
For you smiled on your servant with compassion,
And you reached out and took me by the hand.

We will rise again

Another beautiful composition by David Haas
Key: F

1. Like a shepherd I will feed you; I will gather you with care.
I will lead you and hold you close to my heart.

Refrain : We will run and not grow weary, for our God will be our strength,
and we will fly like the eagle, we will rise again.

2. I am strength to the weary; to the weak I am new life.
Though the young may grow weary, I will be their hope.

3. Lift up your eyes, and see who made the stars.
I lead you, and I know you, I call you each by name.

4. Fear not, I am with you; I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; uphold you with my hand.

The Lord is my Shepherd and I want to follow

Verse 1
The Lord is my Shepherd, and I want to follow,
wherever he leads me, wherever he goes.
Over the mountains, the waters and by-ways,
valleys and highways he’s waiting for me.
Refrain
I want to go to meet him there, to lay myself down in his love.
The Lord is my shepherd, and I want to follow,
wherever he leads me, wherever he goes.
Verse 2
And while on the journey to where we are going,
he promised to be there to help us along.
And over the mountains we’ll walk on together,
to know all the wonders he’s given to me
Refrain

Gift of Finest Wheat

Listen to the song here - http://youtu.be/DvPCjVWFXJw

Chorus:
You satisfy the hungry heart
with gift of finest wheat,
come give to us O saving Lord,
the bread of life to eat.

1) As when the shepherd calls his sheep,
they know and heed his voice;
so when You call Your family Lord,
we follow and rejoice.

2) With joyful lips we sing to You,
Our praise and gratitude,
that You should count us worthy Lord,
to share this heavenly food.

3) Is not the cup we bless and share,
the blood of Christ outpoured?
Do not one cup, one loaf declare
Our oneness in the Lord?

4) The mystery of Your presence Lord,
no mortal tongue can tell;
whom all the world cannot contain
comes in our hearts to dwell.

5) You give yourself to us o Lord,
then selfless let us be,
to serve each other in Your name
in truth and charity.

Music: Robert E. Kreutz (1977)

Easter Song

My Lord he died for a kingdom
To redeem the hearts of men.

Now my people don't you weep,
He has risen from His sleep
He lives again, ALLELUIA

Chorus
SING ALLELUIA, THE LORD IS RISEN
HE IS RISEN INDEED ALLELUIA.

My Lord came forth like the morning
With the splendor of the sun
Came triumphant from the womb,
From the darkness of the tomb,
The victory won ALLELUIA

My Lord united our mountains,
With the everlasting hills
Now the seasons and the sea
Sing a song of victory
Rocks and rills, ALLELUIA

My Lord renewed all creation
that had waited late and long.
Now we all with one accord
Live and love the risen Lord
This is our song, ALLELUIA

To God be the Glory

A very majestic praise hymn to our great God! \o/

Listen to it here.

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Refrain

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain

Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Refrain

Our Lady of the Way (Be with us Mary)

No man can live as island;
Journey through life alone;
Since we’re most loved by a mother
Jesus gave us his own

Ref:      Be with us Mary along the Way
            Guide every step we take
            Lead us to Jesus your loving son;
            Come with us Mary, come

When Jesus met with rejection,
Mary stood by the Cross;
How can a mother desert her Son?
She’ll also stand by us

Help us, O star of the Ocean,
be with us in our strife,
When we are faced with temptation,
tossed by the storms of life.

Alleluia Alleluia Give Thanks to the Risen Lord

Alleluia, Alleluia
Give thanks to the risen Lord
Alleluia, alleluia, give praise to His name

Jesus is Lord of all the earth
He is the King of creation

Spread the good news o'er all the earth
Jesus has died and has risen

We have been crucified with Christ
Now we shall live forever
God has proclaimed the just reward
Life for all men, alleluia!

Come let us praise the living God
Joyfully sing to our Saviour

Sing a New Song

Refrain
Sing a new song unto the Lord;
let your song be sung from mountains high.
Sing a new song unto the Lord,
singing alleluia.

1. Yahweh's people dance for joy.
O come before the Lord.
And play for him on glad tambourines,
and let your trumpet sound.

2. Rise, O children, from your sleep;
your Savior now has come.
He has turned your sorrow to joy,
and filled your soul with song.

3. Glad my soul for I have seen
the glory of the Lord.
The trumpet sounds; the dead shall be raised.
I know my Savior lives.

We Walk by Faith

Walk with Jesus - always! - http://youtu.be/6hk_7EUvwv8

1. We walk by faith, and not by sight;
No gracious words we hear
Of him who spoke as none e'er spoke;
But we believe Him near.

2. We may not touch His hands and side,
Nor follow where He trod;
Yet in His promise we rejoice,
And cry, "My Lord and God!"

3. Help then, O Lord, our unbelief;
And may our faith abound,
To call on You when You are near,
And seek where You are found:

4. That, when our life of faith is done,
In realms of clearer light
We may behold You as You are,
In full and endless sight.

Jesus Christ is Risen Today Alleluia

1. Jesus Christ Is risen today,
Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day,
Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross
Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss.
Alleluia!

2. Hymns of praise, then, let us sing
Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heavenly King,
Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave
Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save.
Alleluia!

3. But the pains which He endured
Alleluia!
Our salvation have procured.
Alleluia!
Now above the sky He's King,
Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing.
Alleluia!

4. Sing we to our God above,
Alleluia!
Praise eternal as His love:
Alleluia!
Praise Him, all ye heavenly host,
Alleluia!
Father, Son. and Holy Ghost.
Alleluia!

Table of Plenty

Listen to the song here

Refrain
Come to the feast of heaven and earth!
Come to the table of plenty!
God will provide for all that we need,
here at the table of plenty.

1. O come and sit at my table
where saints and sinners are friends.
I wait to welcome the lost and lonely
to share the cup of my love.

2. O come and eat without money;
come to drink without price.
My feast of gladness will feed your spirit
with faith and fullness of life.

3. My bread will ever sustain you
through days of sorrow and woe.
My wine will flow like a sea of gladness
to flood the depths of your soul.

4. Your fields will flower in fullness;
your homes will flourish in peace.
For I, the giver of home and harvest,
will send my rain on the soil.

How Great Thou Art

Listen to the song here

O LORD my God! When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy hand hath made;
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy pow’r throughout the universe displayed:

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze:

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die - I scarce can take it in:
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin:
